1. Gently exfoliate any dead skin cells with a dry manual toothbrush (not the same one you use to brush your teeth though haha...) The key is to do this gently, don't get too excited and start ripping your poor lips to shreds! Another product I have heard brilliant things about is the Lush lip exfoliator, although I haven't had a chance to try this yet, it is an alternative if you prefer a scrub.
2. Hydrate hydrate hydrate! Dehydration is a common cause of dry lips, so drink lots of water. There are millions of health benefits to drinking enough water. It is said to improve your skin, aid weight loss and can even give you an energy boost! You can also hydrate your lips by using a lip moisturiser. At the moment I am slightly addicted the eos lip balms and their different flavours. However, for a more intense hydration I prefer the Elemis ultra conditioning lip balm or just good old vaseline!
3. Pop on some lip liner to add definition to your lips. Not only does this stop your lipstick running around your face but can also make your lips appear more voluminous!
Yay! You're finally ready to smoothly apply your lipstick. I'm favouring lighter nude shades for spring, such as Mac's creme cup or pure zen.
Ahh doesn't that feel better!
